Whats a good oil filter for an 02 S-10?

If you're like me and always change oil at 3000 regardless of driving, stick with the standards; fram, delco, etc, available at wal mart. They offer good pressure without restriction and filter very well.

Aside from that, I have no recommendations. Although a hundred people may disagree with me, the filter has a pretty easy job. They have to filter particles that are large enough to do damage while not causing a pressure or flow drop. Given the size and surface area of filter material, even the world's cheapest paper filter can do that. The window there is huge; most filters could filter out twice the particulates and still offer enough flow, or vice versa.

If you're worried about longer service intervals, you can find a larger filter. I did this with a beretta I used for serious service. Get the Fram or Delco parts book at the local parts store. Filters are listed by size, bolt thread, etc. I found that the correct PF51 for my 3.1v6 was just a shorter version of the PF52. The 52 was used in larger chassis where possible ground contact wasn't a problem. I swapped to the PF52 to gain filter surface area. Make sure your new filter choice doesn't have any thing special in it... for instance, some Ford filters have the cold bypass in the filter, not the base. Stick with GM filters and you'll find something that fits.

I agree with curtis73, use the gm filter. If you have an extended
warranty most mpp's will want to know if you have been using factory replacement parts.
