Clock slowly died in my 95tripletdaddy 09-14-2007, 01:59 AM Since I'm new to the forum, I am asking about something that occurred a few years ago but remains a problem still. The digital dash clock over time would not always work until it completely stopped. Does anyone know if this could be something other than just the clock died? shorod 09-14-2007, 02:59 PM Use a bright light and shine it at the clock directly as well as from an angle. See if you can tell if the clock is actually working. You may just have an issue of the backlight burning out. -Rod tripletdaddy 09-15-2007, 01:16 AM Thanks for the info. I will give it a try and post back with my results asap. And if the backlight is no longer working, is that the end of the clock do you know? I just assumed when the light was off, the clock was a total loss. Not true? I hadn't motivated myself to open up the dash yet. Thanks shorod 09-15-2007, 09:59 AM Most of the time, there is a little bulb for the backlight that can be replaced relatively easily. I don't recall though if the clock in the 2nd generation of the Taurus has the simple little quarter turn bulb holder or not. I took a quick look on eBay for photos of the back side of the clock for 1993-1995 Taurus and didn't see any that show a bulb holder. You may need to pop the case off the back of the clock and replace the bulb that way. -Rod tripletdaddy 10-19-2007, 05:31 AM Till I open up the dash, no joy:frown: :frown: :frown: Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
