I got a Chevrolet Cavalier 99, but I dont have the manual of it.
I would like to know what is happening when the ETS Off Light turns on.

I don't have that problem..however, I was wondering if there is a way to view the manual online.

I bought mine at a used car lot and I don't have the manual. I hate when that happens.

Anyways, if the answer to above is no, then I was wondering, I'd like to get a Keyless Entry keypad, but mine is NOT power locks. Do I need power locks? I know mine just came with 1 key and that was it.

I dont know what the ETS light does, never had one. To the other girl, how are you going to get keyless entry without power locks, there isn't a way. Just writing so you know someone looks at this:alien2:

You could go to ebay to purchase a manual, that may solve your problem if no one knows the answer.

When the ETS OFF light turns on, it means your traction control is turned off....this happens when the parking brake/E-Brake is engaged or when you are in 2nd or 1st gear (auto)

ETS stands for Extra Traction Sensor

its not that big of a deal untl the snow comes. its kind of an expensive repair if its messed up

that happened to me last night too..it needed a new wiring harness for the brakes or something...was a $250can job

The ETS off light went on in my car and I ended up replacing the whole timing system, including the upper half of my engine. Cost me 1100 dollars. Now, the ETS light is on again. The first time it happened was last August.

ETS is Enhanced Traction System is used to stop wheel slip thru reducing engine output. And if the light is on it doesn't mean you will spend x amount of dollars to fix it! It just means that ETS has been disabled because you have a engine problem and the computer cannot reduce power to the wheels because the engine might stall so the computer disables the system! Now some cars come with a switch by the shifter that turns on and off the system because if you get stuck in the snow travtion control will keep you stcuk.

Take my word on this for I am a GM Tech who is a Master ASE with L1 certified!

How do you know what is wrong. this is the second time the ets light has come on hte first time it was the wire harness.
Can you testy the codes with a paper clip in a 99 cav?

Generally when the ets off light is on (the only light on and not along with the check engine light) you may have a wheel speed sensor not responding. This can happen due to metallic dust on the sensor. Clean the 4 sensor locations at the local spray wash (each located on the hubs - look for the wires going to each)

last i was told it could also be your 02 senser make sure its connected right
