Question tranni no overdrive and starts in 2nd gear

about a year ago I had my tranni in my 1994 chevy 1500 rebuild about 50 miles later the motor threw a rod so I garaged it. last week, almost a year later, I had a new motor installed and now I don't have overdrive and it feels like its starting off in 2nd gear. its shifted fine as far as I can remember before the motor went on it.anyone have any ideas as to were to start on figuring this one out. fluid level is good and its nice and pink.

No 1st and no 4th could be the 1-2 Shift solenoid (also called shift solenoid A). It should set the check engine light. A trans capable scanner should be able to test that solenoid.

I would check the electrical plug connection where it enters the tranny for a bad connection/bent pin. If the tranny was pulled with the engine this connection would had to been disconnected. Disconnect your battery and then pull this plug apart carefully. Take a look at both the male and female ends for any misalignment. Let us know what you find. Thanks
