Please help,

My '96 Passat TDI will occasionally (once evey 75 miles or so) stall while driving then immediately restart through compression (its a five speed). The stall only lasts for a second or two. It has happened at various speeds and seems to be getting more frquent so I have parked it until I find the cause. The last time it happened I was traveiling about 35 mph and it died and I had to pull over then restart it, which it did after cranking it for five or six seonds (longer than normal). This was the only time it has happened at low speeds and the only time it didn't restart by compression. Please help. Thanks. Bud
