Re: Shifting Questions
i had the truck checked out by a chevy dealer and he told me that it was just a dirty injector. they charged me $200 and the truck is not any better!

Re: Shifting Questions
When you say it hesitates to shift, Does it at all? from what shift points, all of them? You may just need to flush the tranny out.
I do not see how a dirty injector would cause shift hesitation.

Re: Shifting Questions
I had this problem since I bought the truck used . I think I finally conquered the problem. I had tranny flushed 2 times , injectors cleaned 3 times, fuel pump, regulator, fuel filter and many diagnostics done. I just changed the plugs and it seems to have been fixed. I was told my my GM mechanic that it may have been misfiring but not bad enough to register on the gauge. When I had the diagnostics done it had nothing listed. And it runs a lot better with the new plugs.

Re: Shifting Questions
i have replaced all plugs. it had this problem before and after. let's say i'm cruising along at 55mph. i give it a little more gas and the truck stays in fourth gear and starts shaking violently.(-VERY embarrasing on a DATE!) i have to floor it to get the truck to shift. or put it in tow/haul mode, but the problem exists in that mode alittle too. i guess i should try a transmission flush? but i thought it had something to do with shifting from 4th to 3rd because the truck runs great from 1st through 3rd no matter how i'm accellerating.

Re: Shifting Questions
Try the flush and see what happens. But what scares me is when you say it shakes violently. Does it make any noise? like metel to metal?

Re: Shifting Questions
I'm interested to see how this turns out too. A friend of mine, works for a guy, who runs a 97 silverado W/T, with the 4.3. He's having this problem as well. He's taken it everywhere, and noone has a clue. The only difference is he's getting two trouble codes as well, TPS intermittent low voltage, and EGR valve pintle position. Both sensors are fine (changed them out), and the 5v ref voltage seems to be ok. I read a couple things on it, that pointed to acouple different things (one link below), but we've not been able to find the problem. He's had his tranny flushed, actually had it rebuilt after (he's had this problem for a year). Cant seem to find it.

Re: Shifting Questions
no, there is no metal noise. it is like the truck cant decide whether to stay in fourth, or go into third. i guess noone knows what is going on.
