Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
I purchased all of mine through my local GM dealer. They are approx $150.00. Not two difficult to replace if you have done u joints before. Unbolt the driveshaft from the rear (4 bolts) make sure you mark it though just to make sure you put it in the same way you took it out. Anyway, once the DS is unbolted pull the driveshaft out with the slip yolk attached . Replace the u joint & slip yolk & reinstall.

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
Is this really a fix for the "clunk"?

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
here is the deal. If you look under the truck and look at the slip Yoke, it is most likely rusted. That rust is creating friction in the transfer case, causing the "clunk" sound. Nickel does not rust. therefore the sound will go away. you can replace it with a non-nickel plated and it will go away until the rust sets in. BTW the dealer only has the Nicket-plated slip yoke. it is the only choice you can get.. Chevy did away with the old style.

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
Is the plating the only difference? You could probably get one plated for 50 bucks or so

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
Mine does not clunk anymore.
You may have another issue. Do you know where the clunk is comming from? It may not be comming from underneath the truck.

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
Won't the transmission fluid disolve the rubber over time? I'd be worried about doing that.

When you buy something... a bottle of pop for example, who gets the profit from it and what do they do with it? Maybe your money's going to groups that want to hurt you. I think everyone should do a search for things they purchase regularly "____ supports". Might just find a company you won't buy stuff from anymore.

Re: Nickel plated slip yoke.
Had new U-joints put in last year. Bit the bullet and had the new slip yoke put in as well. Clunk went away.... for almost two whole weeks!
