airbag snafu-2000 lumina

I pulled the fuse for the airbag to run a cd changer power wire to the fuse box. The airbag fuse was out for a long time. When I put it back in the dashboard airbag light now stays on. I never got close to the yellow wires.
Is there a way to reset this light?

Welcome to AF, the SIRS has run a diagnostic and sees a problem. This needs to be scanned withan sirs function scanner to pinpoint what has happened here.

Re: airbag snafu-2000 lumina

On the older model GM vehicles, when you disconnect the airbag circuit and turn the key on, the diagnostics read that the circuit is "open" and sets the code for that...triggerng the light
GM is one of the few vehicles that will not reset automatically when you repair the fault. You will need to get to a technician wth a scanner capable of "airbag diagnostics'. (Auto Zone is not) These scanners are more expensive and programmed differently. It may cost you $40-$50 but that's the only way to get the light off.

Re: airbag snafu-2000 lumina

My experience doing GM SIRS repairs showed when the fault is corrected the system goes through self diagnosis and the lite turns off, never had to clear it with a scanner from 96-2002 so far. Of course I needed an SIRS function scanner to access the codes for the initial diagnosis.

Re: airbag snafu-2000 lumina
