1992 astro carb problm

My 1992 Atrovan engine does not start running until I put a little amount of fuel into the carburator...once it is done, the engine runs ok. Can somebody help me?

If your van really has a carbeurator it sounds like either an accellerator pump, or the metering wells are leaking the fuel in the float bowl. A carb rebuild kit should take care of your problem. If the metering wells are leaking there used to be a kit for the four barrels to fix that, as there should be one for two barrels.

You should have electronic fuel injection though

If you do the injectors may need cleaned, or you have a vacume leak at the throttle body.

92 should be TBI, sounds like either the oump is week or the coupler to the sending unit is ruptured. Cant remember if it uses the dampner style or the hose but the dampner(pulsator) used to rupture alot. They have changed the design of said part.
