1972 C10, engine/trans swap

i just got a 72 c10, i want to put a 1999 350vortec i got sitting around. i want to put an intake manifold on it, is there a difference between the 350 and the vortec so i need a specific intake? i want to make it carborated. also is there a way i can put an HEI ignition on it? what kind of transmision would bolt up to the vortec and not be electronicly shift, i have a 4l60E, but dont want all the wiring, i want it plan. any help would be appriciated.

The Votec heads require a manifold that is compatible with them. The difference being that the vortec's have a different bolt pattern than the older heads. The difference is in the 2 center bolts on each side. The 2 center vortec bolts are straight up and down as opposed to the older heads where they are on the same angle as all the rest.

As far as the HEI, yes you can do it as long as there is clearance with the firewall. All the HEI needs is a 12v start & run source from the ignition switch.

Not sure about the tranny thing.
