Cool MAF mod and aftermarket filter..

01 Chev Silv 4.8

I removed the screen the MAF had and it did gain some power, you could actually feel the shifts now. And I was stuck on getting an aftermarket air filter kit, but this mod, a good air filter and a tuner seems like its going to do the job. It seems its already sort of forced air.

What do you guys think? Or would an injen be better?

Re: MAF mod and aftermarket filter..

I drop in filter won't make much of a difference...you need a K&N FIPK or something similar. I took off my original muffler and installed a Borla Turbo in it's place. It worked fine but last week I had a 90 degree piece of pipe installed just after the muffler and had a duel end piece welded on. It now comes out just ahead of the rear tire and I like it much better...I had a rumble in the cab but it's gone and the exhaust is louder when I get on it.

You do not have forced air.. if you did, it would have a supercharger or turbo. That is what forced air is.

FIPK is the way to go. you will notice a differance.

Re: MAF mod and aftermarket filter..

Go with a custom tune. They are alot better than handhelds and if you further modify your truck you can have it re-tuned.

I love them. I have never had any problems with them. I have noticed a couple of horses. maybe more in the throttle response.
