Intermitant DRL problem... hmmmm..........

My DRL's are doing strange stuff. Sometimes they work, and other times the headlights come on when I start the truck. I have re-set the switch (did the dome overide procedure), checked the fuse, cleaned the sensor on the dash and even checked the e-brake. I thought it was being caused by the temprature, as they always seem to work fine first thing in the morning and always seem to go right to headlights when I leave the office (it has been in the upper 90's for weeks). However, today I ran an errand at lunch - they did not work correctly when I left work, but they worked fine when I left the shop and headed back to work.

Have any of you had this happen? Have any of you had the sensor go bad? did it give you any warning?

I know it is no big deal - and usually I could care less. However, in the past year I have replaced both my radio and my vent controls due to the bulbs burning out. When the head lights are on, the dash lights are on - and I dont want to start buring out bulbs again. That, and having the radio LED's and shifter LED's on dim is pretty annoying.

Thanks for any help/direction....

Yea.. sounds like a bad sensor.
you may have a loose conection to the sensor if you pulled out the radio recently.

Re: Intermitant DRL problem... hmmmm..........

Update:
It is definitely temp related. If I put the A/C through the defrost vents, give it about 2 minutes and the headlights go off and the DRL come back on.

I am going to pull the radio and make sure I did not hit/pinch anything when I installed the replacement and take a look around.

Is the sensor difficult to replace?

Thanks!

May be easy if you have small hands
Other than that, it is a tight fit. PITA!!
