Factory Alarm

I just bought a 2003 Cavalier LS Sport and I cannot figure out the factory alarm. I have looked online but I can find little information on how to turn it on and what it actually protects. Any info on the Factory alarm is welcomed. Also please feel free to add what to alarm I should get if the Factory alarm is crap.

Also how does one lay the back seats down to expand the trunk?

Re: Factory Alarm

The factory alarm is automatically armed when you lock the car using the "Lock" button on the remote. It will only go off if the door opens or the ignition starts without a key. To test it, keep the window down, lock the car using the remote, allow a several minute grace period to pass (until the red "security" light starts intermittantly flashing on your instrument panel). Reach in the window, unlock and open the door from the inside, and your car will intermittantly chirp for ten seconds before it starts going ballistic.

Also, the alarm will sound if you leave the keys in the ignitions "off" position for too long.

The rear seats can be folded down in two parts -- to do this, locate the black pull straps inside your trunk. Pull the straps, and push their corrisponding seats forward, and they will release and fold.
