Question ABS light comes on the speedometer quits

I have a 99 ZR2 S-10 with a 5 speed tranny with 30000 miles. When I first start it up the ABS light comes on and stays on,and the speedometer or the odometer does not work. Drive it down the road for about 5 miles or so and the ABS light will go out and the speedometer and odometer will start to work. Did you ever hear such a thing? Any one have any ideas on what causes this weird thing or what can be done to fix this problem, thanks

Re: ABS light comes on the speedometer quits

Check the vehicle speed sensor. This is used by the speedometer, ABS system for these systems to work properly. Take a look at it and make sure the connections are good and clean. If they are, chances are the sensor needs to be replaced.
