Pulley Help

Ok so I want to get a smaller pulley, but I have no clue what to get. Like, am I going to need a pulley system, just a pulley, or what? And what size should I get that would give me the best performance? Could someone give me a link to what I would need (preferably from ZZP or 3800P)? Thanks.

Re: Pulley Help

If you have a stock engine and exhaust system you will need to make a couple of changes before you change the pulley. First, remove the u-bend just after the resonator to open up the exhaust. Second, get a cold air intake to allow the engine to get more air. If you want a smaller pulley on a stock engine don't go any smaller than a 3.4 otherwise you will experience a lot of knock retard which will decrease your performance. Also if you change the pulley you will need a good belt, I recommend a Goodyear gatorback belt. Finally, to change the pulley you will need a puller that can be purchased or rented. Just don't try to remove it without one or you will damage your SC.

Ooohhh thanks a lot, had no clue I needed to do all that (not being sarcastic either if it sounds like I am).

Re: Pulley Help

It could be even more as far as mods and expenditure.

Actually with a 3.4 SC pulley you can still experience unacceptable levels of knock retard (KR) regardless of minor exhaust mods or even a CAI/FWI. You'll need to drop one or two ranges colder on the spark plugs and it is highly recommended to use a 180 degree thermostat and a re-programmed PCM module <--available from either ZZP, Intense or DHP.
