Lower Control Arm Bushings - Need Alignment?

Greetings,

I'm a little confused. I need both lower control arm bushings replaced on my 2000 GP. One mechanic said it would need an alignment after the new bushings are installed, the other said it did not.

The car had a front end alignment back in January after a minor accident.

Does the car need an alignment after such work??

Many thanks.

Since the car was recently aligned with the bad bushings, I would say it will need .

lower control arms are easy to do yourself. i had to change mine after an accident. buy the whole control arm with new bushings installed instead of just replacing the bushings.

Re: Lower Control Arm Bushings - Need Alignment?

Richtazz & Ericn1300,

Thank you both for the reply.

I think I'll go for the one that includes the alignment. Better to err on the side of caution.

As for doing the work myself, space, tools, and time might be a problem? The thought of saving some money is definitely nice, but I don't know if I'd have all the tools plus knowing the job was done properly puts the mind at ease.

I don't have a problem with paying a mechanic to do the work so long as their honest and fair. They've learned their trade and need to earn a living. It's the shady ones you want to steer clear off.

Thanks again.
