Calling all tranny experts. 4l60e

I recently removed my engine and tranny for an engine rebuild that I'm in the process of doing. I put my tranny on the engine stand now by itself and started inspecting it. I'm a little worried about some things. I noticed that the output shaft has a decent amount of play. How much is normal? Would there be alot less if the torque converter was bolted to the flywheel? Also the torque converter worried me. I drained it and when I was flipping it over to put it back on I could hear and feel something inside of the torque converter moving (like flopping around not a spinning motion). I know that there is different components inside like a stator but I'm not sure if it should be able to move around like this.

As far as the output shaft movement. The thing that stabilizes the output shaft is the driveshaft yoke. There is a seal (for oil control) and a bushing in the tail shaft that the yoke slides into. The noises in the t/c I don't have a clue. If it was running good before you yanked it, it's probably ok.

Maybe someone with more experience will step in...........Steve

Correct on the out putshaft issue, the convertor stator and driven member will move around the TC ( normal), they can be cut open and repaired very cheaply, maybe 150.00
