Hows this sound?

its a 95 z28 with a 383 stroker with eagle crank, rods and lunati pistons. ported and polished heads and a mild cam from comp cams, moroso intake and pace setter headers no cats into a flowmaster muffler with turn downs . built 4L60 auto trans with a shift kit, it shifts faster than any manual transmission. its got some serious power and torque the only thing it needs now is rear end gears and drag radials.

Now my question to you is, if I was to buy this car. Is it going to last? Im not sure how many miles it has on it. But what are you opinions on buying it?

Re: Hows this sound?

sounds good untill the flowmaster... but why wouldn't it last? the only thing that might not last is the rear and it's death would come all the more sooner with drag radials

Re: Hows this sound?

So as long as i didnt put the drag radials on i would be good? Btw you dont drive your car during the winter? Is it bad for the motor?

Re: Hows this sound?

I don't drive it in the winter because snow, ice and sports cars don't mix..... yeah, you should be ok if you don't use drag radials but a rear would be about the last upgrade your car would need.

Re: Hows this sound?

I agree with the flowmaster I really dont like them. I actually like stock exhaust on alot of cars. If you can make stock roar then you know you got some power. Or a mild exhaust.

As for winter ... Winter + Camaro V8 = a trip in this

Re: Hows this sound?

well, im doing a 396 stroker and i was told by more than 6 people that i wouldnt have to replace my rearend at all...but not only do i have a auto, i also have a shift kit and a decent size stall converter..i dunno if its all of that or just it being a auto that makes a difference...not saying it wont break, but everyone else with my set up hasnt had to change it yet....just food for thought

Re: Hows this sound?

Hell, you can break the rear with stock power. What kills most of them is a launch. Too much stress on sticky tires will kill it quick. A hard romp on the road with that power might kill it as well with that type of power.

Re: Hows this sound?

one guy yes he runs slicks, th others no..they mostly street race. but the reason i was given was the shifts arent as bad with the auto and the launch isnt as violant???

Re: Hows this sound?

The launch with an auto trans won't be as bad because with a manual there is usually backlash in your whole drivetrain while sitting in nuetral. Dumping the clutch takes up that little bit of backlash in everything with a good slam. Plus you can't go from nuetral to in gear at high rpm with an auto like dumping the clutch would do. (Unless you're a moron and do a tranny drop). But just remember- tires/traction are your limiting torque factors in any car. That rear end with 28spline axles can be beefed up some. I'd start with a stud girdle to reinforce the housing from distorting- which is the most common problem on 7 5/8 10 bolts.
