Unhappy Service 4WD light and 4WD question

Hello all,

Well, I posted a thread a week or so ago. Here are my results thus far, followed by a question. I replaced the 4WD switch. Still nothing. The lights will not even turn on on the switch. Checked all fuses, they are ok. My battery went dead (wife left the interior lights on), and after jump starting it, the service 4WD light finally came on (it was not on when the 4WD first went out). Does anyone have an idea of some examples of issues with the 4WD on these vehicles and a range of $$$ of what I'm looking at paying at the dealer to get it repaired? I'm just curious to get a window of what kind of $$$ I'm looking at paying. Could it be the front diff fluid low? Is there a switch that disables 4WD if it gets low? ETC modules go out often on these? TC all together bad? Just some examples or past experiences would help. Thanks again for all your help.

What year? You might be able to pull trouble codes if it is new enough.

You will need a scanner that can access bcm and transfer case codes.
