Re: looking for part name

Are you asking about flare nuts?

'85 TA? Or early '86?

Re: looking for part name

ty would your local auto store sell flare nuts for it? (97 cavalier)

the trans am is an 85. its one of my 4 dream cars
no order camaro trans am corvette and viper. i bought the car for 500 dollars not running/barely running. the car had a really bad rod knock and didnt start easy but with the body and t-tops in such great shape i couldnt resist. i decided i would learn about working on cars starting with this car. i started reading books and manuals and eventually gathered enough kownledge to attempt an engine removal. I removed the 305 and later had a 350 installed in it. I call this my poker car b/c all the $$$ i win from online poker/casino poker goes towards it. with a little bit of determination and alot of time even a car noob like me can appreciate the work others put into their cars and learn from others.

Re: looking for part name

A '97 Cavvy would probably have "Quick-Connect" 'O' ring/standpipe fittings with locking clips in place of flared tubing and flare nuts. There was a transition to those sometime around that period.

If the line appears to have a hexagonal shaped nut at the radiator, it is likely a flare nut fitting. If it has a round metal/plastic clip which can be spun on the line, it is a Quick-connect fitting.
