Hey guys, I was just reading a Pontiac magazine and it they were breaking down the models for pontiac. Long story short, they said that Pontiac still said no on the Firebird....... Im still positive that it is coming out though......This is why is coming out: Since 2002,well, probably earlier than that, sales were bad for everybody right, so pontiac was the one to take the fall for everyone else(ford, chevy, dodge) what a coincidence that after the bird and trans am were cut, fords new stang came out, and then the camaro along with it, the charger, then dodge showed its new line up of muscle cars that include the challenger. So , do you guys see it.... pontiac "fell" first, but at the end its coming with a nuclear bang in 2010 when the camaro convertible came out. Its all about marketing, they probably everyone(pontiac, chevrolet, ford, dodge) got in a room, decide on how to bring sales up with out taking all together on the market, but letting themselves take a piece of the "pie".
And ill bet the bank, like the camaro came out in a movie, the firebird/trans am will make the greatest come back on the remake of
"SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT"

If it does come back, I will definetly be buying one if its restyled after a 79-81... But I think it will be extremely hard to top the styling of the late model 4th gens... There can be no sexier or aggressive looking f-body...
now thats a guy with sum big ass hopes and dreams!!!! i still think they are going in a new direction, and they dont care to bring her back at all....but hey the camaro did it somehow so u have a chance..and if they did bring it back in that movie (which i heard nothing of) then i think a woody is in the making!!!

But they already brought the GTO back......just to get rid of it again 3 years later. This kind of stuff is why I no longer like Pontiac. They need to get rid of the roadster thing, then bring back the firechicken.

1967 Firebird 400 V8 Convertible. Primer Grey with green bondo spots. Cam, Headers, Dual Exhaust w/glasspacks, larger valves, 4bbl carb. TH400 w/ Shift Kit. My dad's ride, but will be mine someday.
Mileage unknown, doesn't have original speedo, switched the 120 for a 160.
They are introducing the G8 in 2009 which is suppose to be the GTO's replacement, also made by holden. Base powertrain is from the Caddy CTS, a 3.6 261hp v6 and 5 speed auto. The GT gets a L76 6.0 V8 based on the LS2 except with active fuel management with 362hp and a 6 speed auto with 6 speed manual optional later in the year. A GXP model could have the LS3. So with this car and the camaro being introduced at the same time, its not logical for Pontiac to bring back the Firebird. The would have 2 cars with that would be very similar and they wouldn't make money.
Come on guys, dont be pessimistic, makes have to have their icons, right and the bird is one of them for pontiac. Like the GTO back in 1992 or so when I was in High School, the GTO concept came out and a few years later, talks were rumored about the tempest making it to the atleast the clay model. Thats why I havent taken my finger off the dotted line.

And the GTO is taking a year off for remodeling, then it is coming back with the LS3 in '08. Its not being replaced...yet.
And there is no bird in the works yet. GM can't afford to bring back 2 models that are pretty much the same. If the camaro is a huge hit, GM may consider the firebird, or Pontiac twin, but HIGHLY unlikely.

It wouldn't take a whole lot to convert that into a 5th gen Firebird...
The G8 is gonna be very kickass... I was reading an article on it a few months back and it gave me a huge wood reading about it... But it still will never compare to a Firebird... I had seen one 5th gen Firebird concept online that somebody designed that was pretty sick... I'll have to look around and see if I can find it again... Even had the t-tops still.
Am I the only one who DOESN'T want to see them come back out with a Firebird/Trans Am? I would seriously hate to see a new poorly designed retro Firebird. Maybe in the future if they decide to come back out with it, without giving it the retro look, then I'd be fine with that. But for now, let it rest and give the GTO a try for a comeback. If the GTO continues to fail, then hey.. maybe GM will consider bringing back the bird. As for now.. I enjoy driving and owning my last produced generation. Makes me feel special

Ah ha!!! That would be it. But not the same picture... The one I saw had t-tops out of it... Still a damn sexy car... Mmmm..... Perhaps maybe some slight changes to the front end. Other than that and the t-tops, I'd say its all good.
