Roller rocker arms?

Hey guys, i currently has a 4 bolt 350 with standard rocker arms. i want to switch over to some roller rocker arms. think it's worth it? they claim 15-25hp increase is that realistic? Also should i change the pushrods when i do this and how do i know which size to get? i'm thinking of getting the rocker arms, shift kit and possibly gears to get into the high 13's. i also have to retune the carb.

Only if you switch from 1.5 to 1.6 ratio rockers. Roller rockers would be the last item I'd get when looking for more power. They are for when you are looking to eek out the last couple ponies from an engine that is about maxed out to begin with. If you do get them I'd look at the Magnum rockers, made of chromemolly steel or Crower's stainless steel rockers. Aluminum rockers suffer from metal fatigue at the stress points.. not so the steel & stainless ones.

Re: Roller rocker arms?

yea i was looking into the magnum 1.6 roller rockers from comp cams. i figured i'd make a couple more ponies with the less friction and the up'd lift. just wanted to hear some opinions if it would really give 15-25hp. whats the difference between self alighning and non? I'm assuming the self alighning ones alighn themselves, but how do you alighn ones that don't self alighn? Those magnum 1.6 rockers supposedly aren't self alighning.

If you have a hyd roller cam you need the self aligning rockers because of the centerbolt heads. Non self aligning rockers use pushrod guide plates to keep everyting straight.
Depending on the cam, if you went to 1.6 rockers you may well see a 15 hp increase

Re: Roller rocker arms?

i'd be using a flat tappet cam, but the vortec heads have use center bolts.
