properly retrofitting HID projectors/headlights

i've heard it about... 500x times now that the only way to go with a high intensity lighting conversion is retrofitting some projectors. that said, it seems like their is a TON of garbage projectors on ebay. the hid end is easy -- i'm going to get these hids or these -- though philips are certainly bullet proof, their HID prices are out of this world and the warranty, well, lacking. i'd like to hear some of the more seasoned lighting guys in here weigh in on projectors -- quality and a decent price.
