bro. you need to throw us a bone here. I changed mine on my 2000 bird for an aftermarket one, and im guessing you are asking on how to take it off (firebird) just twist it counter-clockwise, its just screwed in if youve never messed with it it might be hard that you feel like the whole stick its going to break.....dont worry it wont. now on the maros Ive never messed with one but I would assume its the same.

Are you talking about on the Automatics or the Standards? Cause he is talkin about an automatic and on the Firebirds there is a small U clip that you have to pull out of the front side and then then the knob just pulls up with no resistance... At least thats how the T-shifters are... I would assume the Camaro ones to be the same since they both operate the same way...

Re: Camaro/Firebird Automatic shifter knob quesion

If the 4th gens work like the 3rd gens did, be careful. The firebird had the little U clip (looks like a flooring staple) but the Camaro you had to pull the button out the top and then there is a snap ring down in there holding the knob on. While they MAY interchange the plastic detent "rod" going down the center of the shifter's shaft is completely different...thats assuming they used the same style shifters as the 3rd gens.
