Is there a replacement type of carb (after market) that I can get for my 87 Tercel (wagon/4wheel drive... 1.5L engine I think) I know it's an A-2 type carb, so would any A-2 type work? The people I've called either said it couldn't be remanned because the carb type contained plastic pieces, and to get one from a dealer or part store they are asking $900 down to 350, but I'm wary now about a remanned since two seperate remanufacturing companies told me they couldn't do it.

I would prefer to put a new carb on, like an edelbrock, but I don't know if they would have one that would fit this car. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think this info will actually help you but I had put a new carbuerator on my 1990 tercel and the only place that I could find one was at checker. I beleive I had checked pep boys, autozone, carquest and napa and no one had availibility as I remember. The carbuerator that I did buy was a little different from my original but it works great. I guess I got lucky.
