Blinking seat belt guy

I lent my '99 Prizm to a friend and when it was returned to me the seatbelt warning light in the dash would not turn off after putting the seatbelt. It now has been blinking perpetually for almost 2 years. I have become accustomed to it as my little blinking friend but wonder how I can get it to stop. Is it as simple as it seems it should be or should I continue to bond with my little red blinking passenger.

Re: Blinking seat belt guy

Try the wire that goes from the belt lock to the dash, probably under the carpet, if it is ripped (disconnected), it will cause that.

Re: Blinking seat belt guy

Got a '98 Prizm, I just used black electrical tape to cover the blinking light. Eventually it stopped on its own.

Re: Blinking seat belt guy

What I did was remove the bulb itself from the dash.
