S10 2.2 liter electrical problem

i have a 96 S10 2.2 liter. today while driving the battery light came on and the gauge went to 0, radio and running lights went out. and then it started running real rough.

got home and left it running and checked all the lights(worked fine) and even the bell kept dinging. tried to start it and nothing happened,no noise/radio anything. tried the headlights and they came on.

what could this be? any help would be greatly appreciated....

Did you try the alternator? Sounds like you need to replace it. Just a guess though.

Check the battery, cables and alternator.
