1989 Chev Celebrity 2.8 liter FI PCV Valve location

Where is the PCV Valve located on a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity with a 2.8 liter FI engine? According to one manual "The valve is located in a rubber grommet in the valve cover, connected to the air cleaner housing by a large diameter rubber hose." The only connection coming out of a rubber grommet on the valve cover is a hollow hard black plastic pipe that attaches to the air cleaner intake hose. This was the way it was from the factory and the hose (approx. 1/2" in diameter). I have been replacing PCV valves on the cars I have owned for the last 31 years and they are usually on the valve cover or intake manifold. The new PCV in the package looks like the normal PCV valve (straight, no elbow). HELP! This is driving me crazy!

Thanks!
