Turbo or non Turbo

I'm looking to buy a second car as my daily commuter to the park and ride.

I've been looking at the mid '90s 850s and 960s.

The question is should I purposely avoid the Turbo version of these era Volvos?

Or is the concern over high mileage turbos overstated?

Thanks

Re: Turbo or non Turbo

960 1995 and newer are popular. RWD, the last model with 6cyl engine you can work with, high comfort. 960 = luxury car. Power as an turbo engine. Think there is an turbo version also, not that sure, most of the younger mount their own turbo in these cars.

850 – don’t buy the earlier. 1995 or never are recommended. “child decease” on the older, and uglier. FWD. little trickier to repair by yourself. 850 aint a luxury thing just an family car. S70 is a newer version with modern look and upgrades.

Turbo or not, well it’s up to you, turbo engines are fun. There are “light turbo” and “full turbo” on these also I think, same components but installed different. I think. Check the turbo so it’s not worn out. Not so hard to replace it with a new.

960 is the old school – could run for ever. I think. Little thirsty engine compared to 850. 850 needs more maintaining but sure, it’s a more modern car.
