New Clutch not Engaging

I recently bought a brand new clutch kit for my '98 Jetta GT 2.0 8v. I took all the old clutch parts off the car and installed all the new ones exectly where the old ones were, put the bellhousing back on, reatached all controls and deviced, the finally put the axels back together. I put everything back together the way it was before just with new parts. The car starts just fine, but when I put it in gear and tried to go nothing happed the rpms just went up and the clutch wasn't even attempting to engage. It made a slight grinding noise every once in a while for short periods of time sounding like it was trying to engage but never would. Please get back to me with any possible solutions I don't care if I have to go through the hell of taking that bellhousing off again I just wanna know what's wrong with the thing.

Re: New Clutch not Engaging

Clutch cable probably isnt engaged properly.

Check the cable and see if the clip is on correctly. Also it needs to be adjusted properly.
