Power Steering Pump PulleyBryan Eastham 07-23-2007, 05:07 PM I have a '91 S-10 2.8 V6 and I am trying to remove the power steering pump pulley to get to the bracket bolts to replace the water pump. How the heck does that pulley come off? It has a lare allen bolt through the center but I can't get it to turn in either direction. Any information on which way this bolt is threaded and how the pulley comes off would be greatly appreciated. brandon200317 07-26-2007, 10:59 AM not real familiar with the 2.8 but on most v-6 and v-8 engines there is a specific pulley puller tool. Most of those pullies are pressed on, you use the puller to put it on and pull it off. as for the allen in the middle, i don't know what that's about, and with that setup, you may not need that tool. 16th hippy 08-06-2007, 08:32 PM is a press on pulley, not sure why they cast the allen head in there, but a little deeper in the shaft is a threaded section to thread in the installer...the local auto parts store should have them for rent, or pretty cheap to buy vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
