Engine swap, or what restrictions on this engine?
Alright, a friend has a '99 tacoma, has some suspension and exhaust work done, but he is wanting more power. He has the 3.4L V6. What are the restricted areas on this engine?
What are some engine swaps that can be done without much modification? I am thinking its going to be cheaper over time to just swap in a bigger cu engine for what he wants, b/c (at least with LS1's, my engine) putting heads and whatnot in costs mucho $$$$.

Ya, i mentioned it to him, but i dunno if he is keen on supercharging.
I think he would rather do a V8 swap, but i have no idea which engines will fit the enginebay, and what you have to do about the electrical system, the tranny, and everything else.

The first questions are always how fast do you want to go...and
how much money do you have to spend?
A V8 swap will be very expensive..not to mention it will hurt the
overall value of the truck. Not worth it IMO.

What i'm worried about with the V8 swap is the custom fab work, i dunno what has to be done.
What in general with these engines are the weaker or more restrictive parts?

If you wanted a turbo or supercharger setup with something like
10psi, the limiting factor would be the factory ECU, fuel system, transmission...and then rear differential. It all depends on how much
horsepower you want or think you need.

No, for an N/A engine. What are the restrictions in flow and whatnot in this engine.
For example, i know my intake manifold as well as heads are somewhat restrictive.
