CD player doesnt like 80min CD-R's

I have a 95 Camry. The 3 disc CD player works fine with any store bought CD. But when I record a CD on my computer at home and try to play it, sometimes it will play, sometimes it wont. I think Ive narrowed it down to the fact that it doesnt like the newer 80 minute CR-R's and it semi likes the 74min CD-R's. Since theres nothing really "wrong" with the player, is there any way to upgrade it for less than half the price of a new one so I can hear my CD's? I know I cant buy another CD player (other than a Toyota CD player) and stick it in there.
Any suggestions?

It could be the way your burning the CD's.

And for the aftermaket CD players, I carry CD, CD/Cassette, and DVD players for your Gen Cam. In fact here are the numbers 99 diff models for your Cam ranging from $139-$2,419. Plus with our Jensen players you get a free pair of 6x9 Jensen Speakers a $52.99 value

Send me an email with CD players in the subject line and i'll send you our current price list.

Common problem for some CD radios (s=especialy olders). There is no solution. Don t use 80 min / overburned CDs. There is actually a major chance of compleate destrution of your CD player if used 'long' CDs to be played.

TheOneNOnlyQ,

It could be the way you are burning your cdr's. I have a 94 XLE with the same 3 disc changer as you have. I have yet to have a problem with anything I have burned and I have been burning cdr's for years on several different computers. I would try burning one 80 minutes cdr at 2X speed to see if that helps. You can also try a different brand of cdr's. I have had good luck with Verbatum and I have burned about 150 of them. You may also want to try the cdr's you have burned on another player to determine if they are at fault. If you have already tried these solutons, the problem may be with your player itself. It's actually easy to take out and take it (or send out) to be fixed. If you need instructions on taking it out of the dash, try this URL:

Good luck.

Mike
