transmission shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd

I have a 97 express with a 5.7l engine. It is really shifting hard into 2nd and 3rd gear. What would be the cause of this ?

Welcome to AF.
Could be one or several things.
What transmission 4L60E or a 4L80E?
How many miles on it?
Has transmission ever been serviced?
Has a flush been pulled on it latley?
FLUSHING A HIGH MILE TRANSMISSION WILL DO THINGS LIKE THAT.
Is all other shifts good?
You need to get it on a good transmission/engine capable scanner and check for codes and transmission operation and read out shift data.
Post back any codes.
The clear codes and see if it shifts better or any codes come back.
