I need help, (2002 xterra) parking lights(wedge bulb)

How can I change the front parking lights? I've already changed the headlights to the PIAA's Xtreme White Plus 9007 bulbs, and now I want to change the parking lights to match the colors. I know its the 168 wedge bulb, but don't know how to replace them (Remember its the 2002 model). Please help me!! Also, if anyone knows anything about changing the gauge, let me know as well, Thanks!!

I'm in the same boat as you. I can't find a way to get to them and I don't want to force anything off and break it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm also having trouble changing the stock fog lights if anyone has any insites on that.

You better not be putting blue bulbs in your signals or you'll be deserving of an ass kicking!

I don't know how the lens comes off the '02. Doesn't the manual say?

I wasn't actually gonna put blue bulbs in. One of mine burnt out and I would rather replace it myself than to pay the dealer.

I didn't know the subject was so offensive to you. Wow. They're just light bulbs, it's gonna be OK. Just take some deep breaths and relax.

Diversetek: The manual doesn't say how to change them, but in doing some research I saw that there is a screw on the top of the grey molding and underneath the molding. If you screw those off I'm assuming you should be able to get to the parking lights. I don't have the tools to try it though, so if you get to it can you let me know?

Yeah, I've decided to look into it myself, because no one seemed to reply to my thread, LoL! I understand that there is a screw on top of the headlight unit, but didn't know about the one on the bottom, there is also a latch you want to take off on the side of each units (for example, left head unit has its latch on the right, vice versa). I did try to get it off by taking the screw on top off and the latch, but the bottom wasn't moving, eh. Since you stated it has a screw on the bottom, imma go take a look at it right now. I'll get back to you on it bro, btw, let me know exactly where the bottom screw is at, just incase i can't find it. Thanks!

Btw, i'm replacing the wedge bulbs with the Piaa's extreme white plus. It's sae and dot approved, so no KICKING MY ASS!

Yeah, the bottom screw is right below the headlight. You can see it in between the two moldings. You either need to take some of the molding off to get to it or have a really long phillips head screwdriver. Inorder to take the molding off you need a long flat head screwdriver. I have neither.

Apparently you guys have never had to sit at a traffic signal behind a riceboy in an Acura with the blue signal bulbs. It's almost like having a friggen strobe light in front of you. Very, very distracting and annoying. I thought they were illegal but if not, they should be.

What's the point anyway?

I'm confused. Where did anyone say they were putting in blue bulbs? Isn't he just putting in the same family of PIAA bulbs you have in your front headlights Chuck?

That is correct, its not BLUE lights! Its just white, non yellow. Anyhow, policeman, i did check it out and i saw the screw under the molding of the head unit.... eh, i do need a long ass philips but I don't seem to be having it right now so imma have to go buy one, I'll let ya know if it was successful or not.

That takes all the fun away! BTW, I was only doing this :apoke: to start with and then Policeman seemed to think I was accusing you of having flashing blue lights, which I wasn't. Just making sure you don't add them!

And yes I have PIAA Xtreme White headlight bulbs and like them a lot. I will never get the blue tinted signal lights...ugh!

I understand how you feel about signal lights, but I'm changing the parking lights, the ones above the signal. It will look dope with both piaa's on together, eh. I'll try and take a pic for you slores, but thats when i get the job done.

Can't reach that screw under the headlight! I think you have to remove part of the front bumper in order for anyone to reach that screw. There isn't enuff room for the philips to go in an angle. Someone try and let me know whats up, cuz i'm sure as hell not going to the service dept.

I got to the screw using one of those extention screw drivers that bends. But I ran into another problem. After I unscrewed the top and bottom screws then there were more screws on the back of the light housing that seemed to be impossible to get to. I'm really not sure what to do now. We need to have a person from the Nissan department post how they do it because I'm a little lost now.

Does anyone know when the next Haynes repair manual is comming out for the 2002 Xterra? Or maybe we can look at one for the Frontier.

We have a 2001 Xterra, and I am sure they will remove the same way. After you remove the screw on the top of the light assembly, try to work the light out just a little, once you do look inside at the bottom of the light you will see what looks like a small white christmas tree holding the light in. If you use a flat head screwdriver and depress one side of the tree, the light will pull right out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for trying, but its not gonna work with the 02-03 models. You have to pull out so many parts, its no joke.
