Engine Stalling Out

I have a 1999 Beetle GLX and recently started having tons of problem with it. The engine had a complete rebuilt 3 months ago due to overheating (caused by coolant leak) and now the check engine light is on all the time. However, the car seemed to drive fine until 2 week ago the car stalled suddenly during a local drive and would not start for the first hour or so (there was cranking but the engine just would not start). Finally in the 2nd hour or so I got it started, and it drove as usual except that the check engine light was still on. But now it has happened one more time over the past weekend, and this time I had a much harder time to get it restarted. Eventually it restarted and went as usual, but I dread to drive it again. Please help. Thanks!

As I mentioned, this car had a complete engine rebuilt 3 months ago and has also had the coolant tank replaced and oil leak fixed. The car has 75K on it.

Re: Engine Stalling Out

You need to get the codes read. You may have a bad engine speed sensor. But there are so many reasons a check engine light could come on.
