Im driving my 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 all time 4 wheel drive, no 2 wheel drive option, and a message on the diagnostic screen says "SERVICE 4X4 SWITCH". Does anyone know what this means? I called many shops and the dealer and no one knows how serious it is or what it even means. If anyone knows please tell me how serious it is and what i can do to fix this problem. Thank you

It's a $40 part, it's a switch in the transfer case. All it does is light your wheels in the display in your VIC showing what 4X4 mode you are in.

I just had the same message show on my '95. Thanks for the post - here is the part - $13 at Advance Auto Parts. I will try to replace it this weekend...
