To any decal gurus out there, what is the proper way of putting them on?!?!? I almost went nuts putting about 5 on my tamiya clk warsteiner and those took me a good half an hour...Is it possible for me to put a little soap on the water?
Help please! By the way, this is my first kit in about 5 years. Glad to be back in the hobby :D

Welcome aboard.

Soak the decal in a slightly warm water for 10-15 secs.
I then apply MicroSet to the body and then place the decal down on to the body. Using a really soft brush i apply MS again and allow to soak for a minute or two. Move the decal around so its in the correct place and then lightly start to brush the excess water out from under the decal.
Keep doing this till its all out and you have all air/bubbles etc out. Keep brushing so that its all sitting down nice.
If its not sitting down well in places.....use a hair dryer on warm and "very carefully" warm the decal up while you brush it down into place.

Go to www.tamiya.com , then the "tips" page....has info there to.

Further to Warrens good advice add a little washing up liquid to the warm water after filling the container, i.e. avoiding bubbles! Bubbles are great for washing your dishes and having a bath in, bad for applying decals!:D

Careful about moving the decal once MS is applied, as the decal is so soft it is easy to destroy it!

A lot of tamiya decals don't need MS, so apply with lots of water, dab the water out with a damp cloth after applying, and the results shoud be great!

Good luck!

Anyone know how to apply the Revell-Monagram decals correctly ??

They always seem to be very milky looking in any of the clear bit's in a decal.  ...When they dry they look like crap.
The Tamiya ones all dry really nice and you cant notice the clear bit in the decal.

Have tried all sorts of tricks to try and get rid of this.

Anyone have idea's ???

These two solutions will become your best friends during decal application:

I think I can offer some useful tips, You have to be pretty good to do this car, the car is painted white and everything else is decals

Even MicroSol is too strong for Tamiya's decals, so I use a hot damp cloth or tissue pressed over the decal. It will conform and lay down instantly with no wrinkles. A Q-tip can be used for smaller areas like down in a NACA duct on racecars. I only use MicroSol down in panel lines. Sometimes I use a hair dryer on the lowest setting, do not hold it still but move it quickly back and forth. If you have trouble getting decals to stick try a good white glue or Future under them. As for the Monogram decals you need to rinse all that white stuff away before the decals dry.
