98 GTP Tranny Problems!!!!

I have a 98 GP GTP with 76,XXX. I recently put in a custom FWI and it made a huge difference, but I just started getting hard shift between 1st and 2nd. Seems like it is slipping and then engaging hard. revs to 5K+ before shifting hard. Tranny filter and fluid change @ 73,xxx, plugs and wires last weekend. Fluid level fine, no black or burnt smell and there was no metal in the pan when fluid was replaced. Any suggestions???????

Re: 98 GTP Tranny Problems!!!!

Welcome to AF!!

Sounds like the pressure control solenoid in the transmission. About a $500 repair at a tranny shop. Take it to a tranny shop or someone with a trans capable scanner and have them scan the trans computer. It will tell you what is happening.
