the beat! And she just keeps on ticken
Left bright and early this morning, hitting the road up 285 where we conquered Red Hill pass (9,993 feet), Kenosha pass (10,001 feet), Monarch pass (11,312 feet) along our route to the great Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Taylor Park reservior, and Tincup pass (12,000+ feet) - BEAUTIFUL country! So very pretty.
If I can find the cord to the digital camera to download the pics.
FWIW - I currently have a fill of Maxlife synthetic 5w-30 oil in the engine, truck didn't even use 1/8th qt hugging close to 4k rpm's on all passes, AND get this, averaged 23mpg!!

....Couldn't believe it myself, so I had two other people figure it for me, 23.5mpg!
I'd say that's pretty damn good for a 10yr old truck at 175k miles and carrying roughly 600 extra pounds of exterior armor, along with our touring crap.
EDIT to add: excuse me, make that 5 mountain passes, I forgot Cottonwood pass into Taylor Park, somewhere's between 10-11,000 feet.
Definitely heading back this way possibly in 2 weekends to actually spend 5-6 days.
