Stalling

1987 S10 2.5l TBI.. Idle seems to be ok.I put new plugs/rotor and cap on it, however, when I put my foot on brake and shift into gear (reverse/forward) engine loses power and most of the time stalls. Have a new fuel filter but haven't installed it yet. Possible vacuum leak??

Thanks in advance

Re: Stalling

I'm saying this assuming that it's an automatic. (and we all know what assuming does...)

I would also consider checking the tranny. I had a similar problem and it turned out that the transmission had a leak and the first gear didn't work right, hence the stalling. Got it sealed and the vehicle worked great.

Don't know if that will help or not... but good luck and if you find out what was wrong, please post it. Thanx
