Will someone please explain the Corrado mirror story? I have heard rumours about the F1 using Corrado mirrors and now my mates are taking the piss out of me because my £600k dream car has VW mirrors... Help!

Afraid it's true mate the majority seem to have corrado mirrors though there were some fitted with citroen and BMW (Z1 orZ3 not sure). Not as widely known is they also used Mini Metro interior mirrors. The mirror switches were also proprietry items from a Vauxhall Calibra/Vector.
Despite the bespoke hype quite a lot of minor parts were outsourced.
Thing is do they really detract from the absolute whole?
What is true of any car and not just spercars is this:-
No matter what source the individual parts come from, it's how those parts are put together and used.
And that is what seperates the bad from the great.
Look at the plethora of kit cars, many built from en eclectic mix of parts and here you see exactly the range of success. Some absolute horrors unfit for human consumption and some that can rival the best of the mass produced.
I believe the steering wheel stalks and switchgear on the center console is also from a mass-produced car--I believe VW again. It's rather unappealing, to be honest. And the rear lights are off some truck. It's not where the team spent their energy--they used off-the-shelf, readily available stuff.
