Can someone tell me the oil weight and capacity of the 4.7 V8? Did not get an owners manual with the vehicle & did get to locate a used one yet.

6 qts. oil weight depends on season, right now being it is summer I would run 10W30, and in the winter run 5W30,

That is the engine oil dipstick in the back passenger side with the trans dipstick, right? No oil showing on the stick so looks like at least 2 qt low and the dealer just changed oil in it (not sure about that).

Just changed the oil in my 04 4.7L HO - 7 quarts with filter to fill it up. Owner's manual states preferred oil for most temperature ranges is 5W-30.

Did you look in the owners manual for the capacity? It should take 6 quarts with filter, it is not suppose to read all the way to the top of the SAFE zone on the dipstick.

I will take a look again. I guess I assumed that full was at the top of the scale on the dipstick.

dude.. to be completely honest.. unless you buy oil in extremely large quantities its in your best interest just to take you vehicle to wal-mart and have them change the oil.. it only costs 15 dollars and they'll do it all..

have you ever looked at the guys that change oil in wal-mart...... i rest my case and will continue to do it myself... ps 10W 30 synthetic will save the mileage running 5w anything hurts my brain. but i ride motorcycles so that may have something to do with it

that's awesome buddy.. but if you read the rest of the post you'd see that the person who did the oil change didn't really know much about it.. which there is nothing wrong with, but its best to just go ahead and have someone else do it..
