99 Corolla. Transmision problems? Stuck in drive.

So im driving my car through a neighborhood about an hour ago going maybe 15 mph. Im turning a corner and I hear a REALLY loud noise, like I hit something. People down the street heard it. I pull into a spot on the side of the road and try to put my car in reverse to even out but its not catching. the engine is just reving and the cars sitting there. I turn it off, back on, put it in reverse and same thing. Basiclly all I can do right now is put the car in Drive and go forward. I put the car in neutral and try to push it backwards but it wont go backwards at all, its still as if its in drive and the tires wont roll backwards.

Anyone have any suggestions? What to do?

It's a 99 Corolla VE. 90k miles.

It could be a binding shift cable. Pop the hood and look for the cable that goes to the transmission. Try moving the lever by hand. Or, disconnect the cable and try moving. If it doesn't move, you've got a tranny problem. If you can move the lever, you may need a new cable.
