Temp Guage

So I went out for a drive today. Cruisin along, just off the blocks and my temperature guage starts to go up. Goes maybe 2/3 of the way to normal and then drops like a stone. As I continue to drive to my destination which was not far. I shut him down, pop the hood and the engine is still cold. Start back up and the guage does the same thing. On my way back to the house, it slowly starts to come up to temp just as normal. Let it aidle at home and it's totally working fine. Turn it off, check the engine again and it's just getting warm. Is this a normal thing for a 93 V6 engine? I burn no oil, my coolant is full, almost nothing in the overflow. ????

Re: Temp Guage

Not sure how far you drove, so that makes any judgement on normality questionable, but if your engine never heats up, then it is likely your thermostat is stuck open. Replace the thermostat.
