Question Hot Stereo Faceplate

I've got a 99 Venture and the stereo face plate area gets really hot. It is only the face plate around the stereo and AC controls, the surrounding raised molding and dash top/vents are cool. Kind of lost on this one.

Re: Hot Stereo Faceplate

Both of my Venture had this problem as well as some of my other "later model" vehicles. I was told that this is normal and one of the causes could be the newer type bulbs that are used in the radios for light, emit a lot of heat.

Re: Hot Stereo Faceplate

Hello again,

I also was concerned about this very issue. I posted it under "Great balls of fire...GM radio/cassette problem" on 4-30-07. Someone mentioned to me to turn down the dash lights and the heat will go away...and it did. I don't use the dash lights during the day at all now and it works great without the added heat from the lights.

Re: Hot Stereo Faceplate

My dash lights in my stereo gets very hot also, I just live with it. Kinda hope maybe one day this thing will burn to the ground. Of course without my wife and kids in it!
