where can I get info on 76 f250?

I just picked up a one owner 76 f250 supercab trailer special. It is totally original and in great shape. The factory air still blows cold! I would like to get as much info on it as I can but can't find any. I would like to know what exactly the trailer special is, I have seen many camper specials but not trailer specials, I would also be curious as to the production numbers , how many were produced. If anybody can point me in the right dirrection that would be great. Thanks. Email if you have info please tonyncandi@wildblue.net

Re: where can I get info on 76 f250?

I've never heard of a Trailer Special but I used to own a 77 F250 Camper Special, the Trailer Special is probably set up similarly to the Camper Special with the rear end higher than the front end so that it rides level with a load in it or a trailer attached to it.

Your transmission is probably the large C6 and had a factory shift kit installed in it to make quicker shifts so that you don't loose power between gear shifts, related to that your drive line probably has large than stock u-joints in it to help transmit all the power you need for towing things.

And then you probably have a factory installed trailer hitch that is attached directly to the frame and a factory trailer socket for the brake lights, trailer brakes, etc. To top this all off you probably also have a high output 460 V8 engine with factory dual exhaust which if it was anything like the 77 I had had zero emission equipment bolted to the engine and did not have a catalytic converter either.

All this is speculation but it would make sense as a "Trailer Special".
