hi, i just purchased a 1994 318i just yesterday and i got a really good deal on it, the only problem is that i have a few things to fix on it. first of all, i am confused because i looked under the hood and it says 2.5L but i got a manual thing from autozone and it says it would be a 6 cyl if it was 2.5L, so do you think they just switched the Liter thing? sorry about my bad terminology, i am a new BMW owner, my other car is a geo metro so come on now haha.

Okay, so the next problem is when i asked the guy he said the windows only would go down but not back up, which was correct, they only went back up by bypassing some wires and connecting them by taking the door panel off. this was yesterday where it would go down and not up, today nothing not even down. i thought it may have just been the switch but i went and bought a new one and it still had nothing. i took off the switch and it looked like it was missing rod number 1 but when i got the new one it was the same way. so now, about 60 dollars wasted, i still have no idea. but we did find some random fuses and i put a 20 in and now there is just some weird sound coming from where the window should go up and down but still no movement.

also, when i bought the car the seller said the radio didnt work, first he said all i needed was a code from bmw for like 50 dollars so then it will work, but i dont know if that is it. if i just got another cd player from a store would it work or would i still need the code, or do you think i need a whole new fuse box?

okay, well if someone could help me with this, atleast give me some ideas on what may be the problem, that would be great, i LOVE this car and it will be my dream car once i get it fixed, but i need some help. also if anyone knows of a good spot to get cheaper parts please let me know! thanks!!!

Your window is off track. You can hear the motor move but the window doesn't. If you take of the door panel ( You will need a star tool) by removing the bolts under the door handle, unscrew the black door lock and disconnecting your speakers (easy) you will see that the ball and joints for the window are not connected. The good thing is all you need to do is pop it back in. If the glue has separated from the window then you will need to buy rubber cement and position the window correctly and clamp it for 48 hours (messy and a pain in the ass). If the glue is tight you will need two white plastic female ends for the ball and joint if they are broken plus lubricant. If you take it somewhere to get fixed they are going to tell you your motor needs to be replaced and charge you $500+. They will probably keep your car at the shop for 2-3 days and this is a job that takes 15 minutes at the most. Do get suckered do the work yourself if you can.

okay, well thanks for that idea, i have a mechanic that will be doing the work for free but i will need to pay for parts, hopefully he knows what is wrong with it. now the car is stalling also, doesnt want to start, and at red lights it bucks like i have my foot on the gas and brake but i dont, you can see the car idling really low but who knows. i am beginning to have second thoughts on this one. thanks for the help though!!
