Headlight Resto

Thought this might be helpful to a few of you even though I did my suburban headlights.

I bought a pemex kit at the store. It comes with 1000, 1500, 2000 and 1200 grit sandpaper. Aslo comes with a buffing cloth and buffing compound.

Frankly, the paper wasn't course enough after I did it the first time, so I bought 320 and 600 grit paper to start out with.

Before all drivers side, both sides looked the same.

Passenger side after

Just the lowbeam buffed out here

Here's some with the lights on, I will try for night shots later.

When I was done, the passenger side light hurt my eyes when I looked into it, the drivers side didn't.

I think it would come out better if:

A. I took the headlights off
B: took more time sanding, but my hand started to hurt
C. used different grits buffing compound for a smoother finish

I also did the lower markers/turn signal. The pass side isn't done in all the pictures.

Re: Headlight Resto

Nice thread. Thanks. I'm moving it to the "How-to/Technical Info" Forum.

BTW (not to get this thread off topic) I got a set of HIRs they are sweet. Not only do they light up the road at long distances, they also light up the side of the road very well. I'm most likely going to buy a set for the low beams as well, but have been putting it off for fear that they may be too bright.

I will in the future too, just wanted them for the 11 hour drive to FLA at night on Fridaty and couldn't get them fast enough.

I'll put the ultras in My Blazer as that's not driben near as much.
