2001 sonoma tranny prob.mreous69 06-22-2007, 11:58 AM i drive a 2001 gmc sonoma with a 2.2 four cyl.and a 4L60-E tranny. the transmission has developed a delay when trying to shift from second to third only. first to second shifts fine and third to fourth shifts fine. there is no slipping and about 75% of the time it won't shift back down when slowing down or stopping unless u shut it off. i've had it in the shop and they replaced both shift cylinoids, everything in the valve body, replaced or rebuilt the internal drum and the three four clutches. in the end none of that fixed it. He says i have a low pressure rise problem that it is only reaching 80 to 90 psi instead of 120 or 130 psi and that i need to reflash or replace my trucks computer, does this sound right to anyone???? :banghead: MT-2500 06-22-2007, 01:16 PM Well that should have been checked to start with. But what does the transmission scanner say about it? Any codes or bad readings on shifting? mreous69 06-22-2007, 04:27 PM there were no shift codes at all and the only other codes were the two to three shift cylinoids. MT-2500 06-22-2007, 05:24 PM Like what code no? How do you get no codes and the only other codes were the 2-3 shift solenoids? I would say that was your problem to start with. Recheck codes and post back all code no. But don't really understand electronics and such. It would be very simple. To hook up a scanner, monitor data and see when the computer commands a 3rd gear shift. Then, see when 3rd gear actually happens (shift timing error). You don't "put everything" in a valvebody. Thats too much of a blanket statement, and alot of time and money. Pressure tests should have been done ealier in the diagnostic routine. Also, the shop should have a "shift box" of some sort. Why would anyone refurbish to 3/4 clutch when a downshift don't happen??? You might want to run away from that shop.:2cents: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
